Tameshiwari

Tameshiwari (試し割り) is the word used to describe the technique of breaking piece of wood or bricks.

In Uechi-Ryu we tend to use a different form of Tameshiwari. Indeed Uechi-Ryu is known as a hard Karate-Do Style using kote-kitae (forearm conditioning). We train regularly on this way preparing both arms and legs to be able to perform efficient blocks.

You should have certainly Sanchin Test when the sensei is checking with punches the different muscles of his students during Sanchin Kata –  if not I wrote a specific page on this topic.
