Martial Arts community is a world wide community.
Our passion has been drastically changed due to the pandemic we are currently facing.
A said by Oprah Winfrey : “Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.”
Sharing a passion is sharing a part of your life.
That’s exactly what occurred during the lockdown when I met (through internet) Manuel Gendron and Jeremy Monette, the owners of French Canadian Podcast ‘Entretien avec un guerrier’ (Quebec).
During this interview, we spoke about my former cycling career as rider, my olympics & paralympics coaching experience and of course.
It was an opportunity to look back and that’s something I never do.
Stepping back about our life is something strange.
The path of our life is of course unexpected. Sometimes you meet randomly a person that will completely change your life.
I take this opportunity of this post to thanks four persons as they definitely changed my life.
Francis Vanlondersele is a former World Tour Cycing team manager and he offered to coach Cofidis team during three years. During these seasons I met my ‘brother’ Lionel Marie now in charge of Israel Start Up Nation Sporting management.
Jean is my French Karate & Kobudo teacher. He is a fabulous teacher, he helped me to overcome my health issue in 2016 and pushed me to go forward in Uechi-Ryu.
Jean is a student of Shimabukuro sensei (Uechi-Ryu) & Kinjo Sensei (Okinawa Kobudo).
He is now recognized as French federal expert in Uechi-Ryu and he’s the representative of Takashi Kinjo kobudo style in Europe (Kobukai Europe).
Jean is also a shiatsu practitioner and teacher.
Yukinobu Shimabukuro is a student of Toyama sensei (Student of Kanbun Uech). Shimabukuro sensei introduced the Uechi-Ryu in France then in Europe. He’s a fantastic man & teacher.
We have regular seminars with Shimabukuro sensei and it is always a pleasure to meet him.
He is from 2007 the Soke Representative in Europe.
George is my US teacher, he was the first ‘westerner’ black belt in Okinawa, his sensei was Tomoyose sensei.
He introduced Karate & Uechi-Ryu in USA and founded the International Uechi-Ryu Karate federation (IUKF). I work with him the ‘Old Way’ of Uechi-Ryu giving me a good emphasis to my Uechi-Ryu.
The podcast is in French (sorry for non French speakers), hope you will enjoy it :
